One of the many hot topics covered by Komax’s successful Digital Experience Days focused on a major trend impacting the automotive industry: new vehicles will be networked and autonomous and will use CO2-neutral electric drives. This means that the designs of wire harnesses and vehicle electrical systems as we know them will be turned on their heads. Their architecture is now determined by a multitude of sensors and systems whose software can be updated over the air (OTA). The associated sensor and data cables and the significantly larger, heavier and in some cases shielded high-voltage cables require entirely new production concepts.
