Confecta fulfils special customer needs with Schleuniger
Technology & Innovation
In order to meet the highly specific requirements of their customers, cable manufacturers are increasingly reliant on customised wire processing solutions. This also applies to Confecta, a company that manufactures cables, strands and complex overall solutions. Just in time, tailored to individual customer requirements and thanks to special designs from Schleuniger. In a video interview, Confecta Managing Director Paolo Orlando explains why tailor-made solutions are essential today and how Schleuniger has been supporting the Swiss company for years.
Paolo Orlando, General Manager at Confecta AG in Sulgen, Switzerland.
Cable manufacturers are increasingly reliant on special solutions, customized tools, and unique applications in their production processes. They are confronted with an enormous range of special cable types—from ribbon, coaxial and hybrid to fiber optic or highly flexible specialty cables—and their customers approach them with highly specific requests. They demand tailor-made cable assemblies and systems that are precisely tailored to technical, normative, and industry-specific requirements. Strict standards of quality, traceability, and reliable processing must be met, even for small series. Customers expect not only technical excellence, but also a cooperative partnership: from the selection of suitable materials and the development of special applications to standard-compliant testing and documentation.
For decades, Schleuniger has been enabling cable assemblers to do just that: meet specific customer requirements thanks to custom-made knives, guides, and even software tools. With the highest standards of quality and precision. And by modifying a standard cut & strip machine that cable assemblers already own. Such as the established MegaStrip 9680, which cuts and strips wire, multiconductor, and shielded cables in a multistep stripping process. Including an integrated quality monitoring system.
Customization on the MegaStrip 9680
The MegaStrip 9680 is in operation also at Confecta, an innovative and leading solution provider for electrical and electronic connection and system technology based in Sulgen, Switzerland. Alongside many other machines from Schleuniger. And, of course, with a solution specially designed for Confecta to process flat ribbon cables. We spoke to Paolo Orlando, Confecta's long-standing managing director, to find out how this custom-made solution came about, what makes the partnership with Schleuniger unique, and why special solutions are becoming increasingly important in modern production.
