Komax HMI 1.5: increased performance and functionality
Technology & Innovation
For two years now, the Komax HMI operating software has been impressing users with its increased efficiency and ability to meet the most stringent quality requirements, especially because it guides the operator step by step through the work process. Now we are launching the new version 1.5 for our fully automatic wire processing machines. It provides clear advantages with regard to productivity, functionality and system integration.
Key insights
Version 1.5 of the proven Komax HMI operating software is now available for the Alpha 530, 550, 560, 565 and Gamma 450 models.
New optimizations lead to a measurable improvement in performance depending on machine type, article, processing and material. In the case of the Gamma 450, the improvement is around 5 percent under real conditions.
The new autostart function allows for continuous production of consecutive jobs on all machines.
Further improvements affect traceability, functionality and system integration.
Measurable performance improvements
Wire processing companies achieve success when they are able to speed up their processes while also ensuring that the end products meet the quality requirements. That is why they rely on our wire processing machines. These are designed to produce as many wire harnesses as possible in the shortest possible time by carrying out several processes simultaneously.
We have further optimized Komax HMI 1.5 for this purpose. This means measurable improvements depending on machine type, article, processing and material. The Gamma 450 achieved a performance increase of around 5 percent under real conditions. Particularly articles of medium length and with simple processing benefit from this, but so do articles with crimps and seals at both ends – and all with full quality control.
Autostart for follow-up jobs
The new autostart function for all Alpha and Gamma machines also helps to increase productivity by enabling continuous production. Jobs using the same material and without specific quality verifications can now be carried out seamlessly one after the other if required. Follow-up jobs are automatically executed immediately after the last batch of the previous job, without having to be started separately. This saves the operator unnecessary clicks and makes it easier to operate several machines simultaneously.
Each wire harness is individually traceable
Right from the start, Komax HMI has consistently contributed to the full traceability of every single wire harness: with quality verification before the start of production and quality monitoring during production. Komax HMI 1.5 goes one step further: if required, an inkjet printer can provide each processed wire with an individual code. This allows every wire to be clearly identified and the respective measurement values from the quality monitoring system assigned to it, which guarantees complete traceability.
The essential parameters can be accessed via the network interface: the curve of the crimp force (CFA, CFA+), the images of the seal position monitoring (Q1240, Q1250), the measurement values of the incision monitoring (ACD) and of course the images of the crimp monitoring (Q1250) – all data necessary for the complete verification of the production process and for compliance with the quality specifications.
Shorter samples for more accurate measurement values and lower wire consumption
Further innovations make the operator's work easier in everyday production. Komax HMI 1.5 allows you to create shortened samples (120 mm) with full processing. Short samples are suitable for quality testing and reduce costs thanks to lower wire consumption.
The choice between short samples or standard length samples is made when creating a deposit sample in the process definition.
Short samples are also important elsewhere: short samples are required for crimp height measurement when a measurement device with a compression spring (instead of compressed air) is being used. This minimizes the influence of the wire and increases measurement accuracy. The sample length can be entered in the machine settings.
Freely define your own standard crimp tool
With Komax HMI 1.5, customers can now freely define their own standard crimp tool with very specific properties, such as a stroke of 30 mm instead of the usual 40 mm. In order to do so, the responsible technician determines the appropriate properties of a tool and defines it as the new standard tool in the machine properties. This is then proposed as a standard for each terminal and requested during production.
Support for new peripherals
Komax HMI 1.5 supports additional peripheral devices such as the M1630 Jet inkjet printer. The M1630 replaces the ims 295, which will no longer be available from 2021. Or other wire feed systems: the F1150 prefeeder for heavy wire reels and the ads 119 for medium-heavy wire reels can now also be integrated. They complement the existing ads 123 for very heavy wire reels and the Komax 106 system for feeding from wire drums, Conipacks or central wire storage.
Commitment to optimal operation
With the new version of Komax HMI, we are making you even more competitive with higher productivity, both through the functional development of our machines and through support for work processes in your production facility, which improves the performance of your employees.
New machines with Komax HMI are being delivered ex works with Komax HMI 1.5. Existing machines with Komax HMI can be upgraded to version 1.5. Exception: machines with processing procedures developed specifically for the customer. Komax HMI 1.5 is available from your local Komax representative.
Your opinion is important to us! Which of the new functions in Komax HMI 1.5 is the most important for you? We are looking forward to your input and the discussion with you.
