Function
Corona:
Corona refers to a pretreatment of the conductor. In this process, the insulated wire to be marked is optimized for permanent marking through exposure to a high frequency discharge. This Corona treatment integrated in the process modifies the insulation surface and removes any absorbing substances from it. This improves the cross-linking and adhesive power of the insulation without in any way damaging its surface! The marking station is immediately downstream, making it possible to mark hard-to-treat materials. Whether Corona pretreatment is required depends on the characteristics of the conductor being marked.
UV curing station:
The exposure on all sides to ultra violet light is a photochemical process which is carried out immediately after the insulation is marked with special ink on an appropriate ink jet. Elliptical reflectors ensure uniform all-round exposure to UV radiation and proper curing. The controlled UV shutter with special infrared reflectors prevents the wire from being burn through while standing in place.
The homogeneous radiation causes a cross-linking (polymerization) of the special ink with the surface of the wire insulation. This creates a durable and abrasion-resistant bond that even complies with the high requirements of the aircraft, rail and construction machinery industry. The marking is thus rendered resistant to various environmental influences (scratches, friction or liquidslike Skydrol® and acetone). This treatment increases readability and durability many times over.
