THE WAY TO MAKE IT

Contacting

Introduction

To slash production costs and increase reliability even more, Komax Solar has further improved existing contacting techniques in close cooperation with material suppliers and gone so far as to integrate new contacting processes in its fully automatic machines.
User friendly design:
The fully automatic systems from Komax Solar are so compelling with their carefully conceived and user friendly design. Vertically opening safety doors and a sliding operator’s panel makes for optimum accessibility. To minimize material changeover times, ribbons and cover tapes are processed from large film rolls and reels and a threading aid is provided.
High precision:
The contacting machines from Komax Solar stand out in their high precision and user friendliness. The proven ribbon handling system reliably eliminates camber in the ribbon, ensuring precise positioning. The cover ribbons needed for CI(G)S modules are applied with equal precision and can be integrated in the system with ease.
Simple material handling:
The two-component dispenser with integrated, dynamic mixer eliminates the need for the cumbersome handling of pre-mixed and frozen silver conductive adhesive. Precise volumetric dosing is yet another advantage of the fully automatic contacting systems from Komax Solar, along with easy clean-up and far greater autonomy. The conductive adhesive may be cured right in the fully automatic contacting machine or downstream in the laminator, as the customer wishes.
Reliable contacting without the need of additional material:
Ultrasonic bonding is a well proven contacting techniques used in the semiconductor industry. It allows the solar module to be reliably contacted without the use of additional materials such as conductive adhesive, solder or flux material. This approach helps to eliminate major costs in the production of solar modules. The metallic connection between the ribbon and the back metal means minimal contact resistance and great mechanical strength. Extensive reliability tests have proven the outstanding long-time stability of this contacting method.
