Introduction
The open edges of the solar modules are sealed with butyl to provide reliable pro-tection from moisture, so that the module performance remains at a high level for decades. An innovative tape dispensing system places the highly sensitive butyl tape precisely at the edge of the substrate. All four sides of the substrate are then sealed, one after another. The tape is cut at the corners and the corner overlap can be flexibly set.
The fully automatic sealing system from Komax Solar is equipped with two independent tape dispensers. While one dispenser is operating, the other unit can be conveniently changed. Thus the fully automatic sealing system from Komax Solar ensures reliable and user friendly operation with no interruptions.
Innovative hotmelt sealing process
In the new hotmelt system from Komax Solar, the butyl is no longer extruded onto a liner but directly onto the glass. This approach eliminates one processing step and reduces costs. The greater accuracy in the application of the hotmelt butyl (compared with butyl tape) also means a simpler cutting and marriage system for lamination foil. System autonomy is also dramatically increased, because the butyl is drawn from large barrels in hotmelt sealing.
Applying the butyl hot increases its adhesion and the protection of the module from moisture. The shape of the butyl track can be easily adjusted to the required height and width. Even an outgoing contact ribbon can be reliably sealed.
